Texas Practice Sites is a joint effort between East Texas AHEC, Department of State Health Services Primary Health Care office, and the Office of Rural Community Affairs.

East Texas AHEC seeks to improve the health of our communities by developing a quality health workforce and helping address unmet health needs. www.etxahec.org

The goal of the Primary Health Care (PHC) program is to enable communities to identify, design, and implement comprehensive primary care services for the medically needy people of Texas. http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/phc/default.shtm

The purpose of the Office or Rural Community affairs is to assist rural Texans who seek to enhance their quality of life by facilitating, with integrity, the use of the resources of our state so that sustained economic growth will enrich the rural Texas experience for the benefit of all. http://www.orca.state.tx.us/

Mission

The East Texas Area Health Education Center, Department of State Health Services, and the Office of Rural Community Affairs work with local and state leaders to design and implement strategies for improving health care access for Texans. Our Medical Placement Services Staff provides recruitment and retention assistance to medical providers and communities, as well as community development technical assistance to promote health professional recruitment and retention as an economic development approach.
